Our Story

Our family, together for a special moment.

Hi, I'm Caitlin!

Welcome to Willow Glen Homestead! My husband, Brent, and I live on our little homestead in Lewiston, Idaho, with our two youngest boys.

Our family loves animals, learning new things, and making the most of the land around us. I'm so glad you're here to get to know our story.

I've always been drawn to a simpler, more self-sufficient way of life. The idea of raising our own food, learning traditional skills, and making things with our own hands has appealed to me for as long as I can remember.

In 2016, we moved to our first rural property, and I finally had the opportunity to turn those interests into a way of life. I started with chickens, began raising our own meat, and before long, one homesteading adventure led to another.

When we moved to our current property in Lewiston, Idaho, in 2021, I dreamed of someday opening a little roadside farmstand. For years, it remained just that — a dream.

Then a friend who was moving gifted us half her flock of chickens. Practically overnight, our flock doubled, and suddenly we had more eggs than we knew what to do with! That was the push I needed.

What started as a simple way to share our extra eggs quickly grew into something more. I wanted to challenge myself to turn our little hobby farm into something that could help support itself, while sharing the things I love making and growing.

I've always been someone with a million hobbies and a curiosity for learning new things. From raising animals to baking, gardening, and making things by hand, it feels like all those interests are finally coming together in one place.

I've been baking since I was a little girl, but for years there never seemed to be enough time for it. Now I have a wonderful excuse to get back into the kitchen, experiment with recipes, and share fresh homemade treats with our neighbors. My family certainly isn't complaining about all the extras!

What's in a Name?

The name Willow Glen Homestead actually came before the homestead itself.

Growing up, we had a beautiful, enormous weeping willow in our yard, and I've loved willow trees ever since. When I started dreaming about our future homestead, Willow Glen was the name I chose.

The funny thing is, when we moved here in the winter of 2021, I had no idea how fitting that name would turn out to be.

As spring arrived and the trees began to bloom, I discovered that our property was home to numerous willows. And our little piece of land just happened to be nestled between two hills, in something resembling a glen.

Somehow, without even knowing it, I'd chosen the perfect name for the place we'd eventually call home.

A Little Bit of Everything

Today, Willow Glen Homestead is a working hobby farm, a creative outlet, and a growing roadside farmstand. We're still learning, experimenting, and finding new ways to make the most of what we have. What began with a few chickens has grown into a place where all those years of learning, creating, and dreaming have finally found a home.

We're happy to share a little piece of that journey with you. Welcome to Willow Glen Homestead. We're glad you're here!
